Georgia
I have lived in Georgia since 2001 and I have travelled all over the eastern side of the state and to Atlanta a time or two. The area is gorgeous and the people are top-notch. I have begun many friendships while living there and I hope to improve on most of them, if I can manage to stay in the area long enough to resuscitate the connections.
And now, a word from our sponsors:
If you want the best all-you-can-eat shrimp in the SE Georgia area, you need to go to Folkston. Gas is cheap in St Marys, last exit before Florida on I-95. Despite being a state made famous for its peaches, the best place to find them is still on the side of the road, from a man who picked them himself from his own trees. If you're a fan of fatback (or want to know what it is) there is a restaurant near the submarine base that will give you all you want for $8 but they're only open at random times on certain days, so plan on stopping by at least twice, I don't think anybody has ever gone there when they were open on the first try, unless they were with someone who knows their hours. The Submarine History Museum is on the St Marys waterfront and there used to be a man who sold bait nearby and everybody knows about him but nobody can ever find him. If you have the time, check out one of the many bed & breakfasts in the area and plan on a trip to Cumberland Island, but be sure to bring lots of sunscreen and your own water.
What are the names to some of the establishments? Come see for yourself! I'm not advertising for anyone, just making recommendations. (And no, I don't actually have sponsors, though that would be nice!) There is a wealth of things to discover anywhere you go, you just need the courage to explore.
